Depending on time or budgetary requirements or the type of organization the mailing is for, there is an appropriate class of mail. The chart below summarizes the delivery times of each class. Click on class of mail to view its corresponding rates.

Automated mailings, in addition to quicker delivery, also benefit from list cleansing and reduced mailing costs.

Class	Approximate Delivery Time
Automated/Nonautomated First-Class Mail	Delivered in the U.S. within 1 to 4 days, and undeliverable mail is forwarded or returned to sender without additional charge.
Automated Standard Mail	Delivered in the U.S. in as little as 4 - 10 days, depending on the accuracy and consistency of the addresses.
Non-Automated Standard Mail	Delivered in the U.S. in an average of 10 - 21 days -- Lowest priority handling.
Nonprofit Mail	All Nonprofit mail is Standard class.

NOTE: Pieces that do not meet all parameters may be assessed a surcharge depending on the class of mail:

NonStandard First Class Mail
A single piece of mail weighing 1 ounce or less is Nonstandard if it exceeds any of the following size limits:

Its length exceeds 11 1/2 inches.
Its height exceeds 6 1/8 inches.
It thickness exceeds 1/4 inches.
Its aspect ratio (length divided by height) does not fall between 1.3 and 2.5

Single piece Nonstandard surcharge = $0.12; presorted - $0.055

Standard Mail (A)
Residual shape surcharge is applied to a single piece prepared as a parcel or is not letter-size or flat-size.

Single piece Residual shape surcharge = $0.23.
